Choir on Christmas Eve

This Week's Music Notes

This First Sunday in Advent, December 3, we are pleased to welcome Lynnhurst members Chris Anderson and Susan Rose to our traditional Hanging of the Greens worship service. Chris and Susan have been welcoming Christmastide to Lynnhurst on the first Sunday of Advent since 2010. In the spirit of the service, their music reflects the natural elements of the season. Holly and Ivy have been Winter/Christmas symbols of faith for centuries originating in Medieval England. A new arrangement, Quittez Pasteurs, is a French Carol from the16th century. The music reflects on the visitation of the angels to the shepherds, encouraging them to ‘Leave their Flocks’ and go to Bethlehem. All arrangements for brass and organ have been written by Lynnhurst organist Jay Bruns.

We are also delighted to welcome Mezzo Soprano Karin Krisetya to Sunday's service.  Karin will be singing the aria O Thou Who Tellest Glad Tidings to Zion from Handel’s Messiah during communion. Many thanks to Karin, Chris and Susan for sharing their incredible gifts of music in worship this morning!
