This Week's Music Notes

Music for Sunday, March 18, the Fifth Sunday of Lent, includes a gospel arrangement on the familiar hymn Softly and Tenderly arranged by Wisconsin native Mark Hayes ( b. 1953) and a setting of the Indian Folk Melody Assam – I will Follow Jesus written in 2013 at the Postlude.

Throughout Lent we have been discovering and exploring the piano music of South Korean composer Lee Ruma (Yiruma). Born in Seoul in 1978, Yiruma grew up and studied composition in England. The music of Yiruma is sometimes categorized as New Classical or Contemporary Classical. It’s interesting to think of Classical music still being written and enthusiastically followed by listeners of all generations.

Please join Lynnhurst in worship next Sunday, March 25, Palm Sunday, as we begin our Holy Week journey on the way to a Glorious and Blessed Easter, Sunday April 1!
