Message from Pastor Cynthia

February 15, 2018

Dear Beloved Community,

My heart aches, along with yours, at yet another school shooting. As we enter this season of Lent, we are acutely aware of the journey we are on as one of our transformation and the transformation of the world in which we live, towards God's dream of peace. May our thoughts and prayers be put into action through policy change and legislation on responsible gun control.

Listen: Hearing that Still Small Voice and Finding Your Own is our Lenten and Easter worship theme. Lent is the 40-day journey of readying ourselves for the gift of new life and resurrection at Easter. Worship will be multi-sensory, meditative, and contemplative with an invitation to experiment with ancient Christian prayer practices alongside our familiar way of praying our joys and concerns.

We’ll ask ourselves, When was the last time you listened for God’s voice? Our busy lives can get overcrowded with so many different messages telling us how to determine our values, how to live our lives. Our spiritual journey together is about looking within to find guidance and waiting for God’s quiet nudgings, whispers and calling to help us walk in Jesus' way of compassion and justice.

We will quiet things down and heighten our attention to the “still, small voice” of God and our own True Self. Listening through prayer as well as meditation on holy texts is an ancient Lenten practice. Come and rest, come and listen.

In gratitude to our God who calls us together to engage in life-giving, hope-stretching, justice-seeking, mutual ministry...

Blessings, Pastor Cynthia
