Message from Pastor Cynthia

October 5, 2017

Dear Beloved Community,

As people following Jesus on the Way we are aware we hold the “both/and” realities in these days in which we live. With yet again another act of domestic terrorism, we hold the brokenness of this world AND also seek the narratives of courage and beauty in the face of evil. We hold our depth of tears and lament, AND turn our intentions more clearly toward systemic policy changes for sensible gun control and budgets that serve the common good. And we are authentic and honest with one another about our weariness in the face of the destruction of hurricanes, fires, floods and legislation binding women and dark skin bodies, wondering if our voices and actions matter.

Into these moments we ground ourselves once again in God’s truth that, “my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ love and righteousness…On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand, all other ground is sinking sand, all other ground is sinking sand.” This hymn, along with Come, My Way, My Truth, My Life have visited me throughout this week. I hope you’ll take a few moments to be held by Love as you engage this link.

I also offer the wisdom of our MN UCC Conference Minister Rev. Shari Prestemon in her response to the violence in Las Vegas.

In gratitude to our God who calls us together to engage in life-giving, hope-stretching, justice-seeking, mutual ministry...

Blessings, Pastor Cynthia
